As part of the new
range of High Modulus carbon masts CST has just launched a
brand new High Modulus carbon mast for the International 14.
The new section is just 61mm OD at the base and tapers to
22mm OD at the tip making it the smallest diameter mast
currently available on the market. Overall weight has
been reduced by 0.5kg and the CofG is now even lower than
before.
The fore/aft bend profile of the new High Modulus mast
has been engineered to give a similar characteristic to the
outgoing CST14 but with a slightly increased stiffness in
the midpanel. Sideways stiffness has been increased by
over 15% allowing improved power and efficiency with the new
generation square top mainsails. CST have been working
closely with Alexander Sails to optimise the mast bend and
set-up configuration to ensure the highest level of
performance is achieved. |

For
many years CST has been at the forefront of mast development
in the International 14 class, CST developed the rig which Grant Geddes
won the 1999 World Titles with in Melbourne. Since then CST
masts have become dominant in the class, other results
including 1st in the 2003 Worlds, 2nd in the 2000 World's,
as well as 1st in the 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2007
Australian National Titles and 1st in the Prince of Wales Cup in England
2007.
CST supplies a complete range of tubing for masts,
spreaders, spinnaker poles, booms and racks for the I14 as
can be seen below.
