CST manufactures a wide range of standard and custom made filament
wound tubes which are finding increased application in the marine industry. Composite construction
design can be optimised to give increased strength, stiffness or weight savings.
CST composite spars are stronger, stiffer and lighter than aluminium and offer greater fatigue and
corrosion resistance.
The flexibility of the filament winding process allows for varying wall thickness and fibre angles,
leading to ranging stiffness within the same diameter. This means that desired bend characteristics
can be engineered into spars.
Another plus is smaller diameters
and lighter weight spars for easier
handling. |
