Managing Director (Founder)
Clive received his Bachelor of Applied Science in Materials Science in 1993. In 1995, he joined Hawker de Havilland working on advanced aerospace composite manufacturing for Boeing parts.
A keen sailor who was always innovating, Clive identified an opportunity in the high performance sailing mast market for filament wound masts. Finding that there was no commercially equipment available at the time, Clive left Hawker de Havilland and founded CST in 1996. He set to work and built his own filament winding machine and software from first principles.
CST Composites’ filament wound sailing masts quickly became in demand after winning several world titles and remain the most advanced sailing filament wound masts on the market.
Over the last 18 years, Clive has become one of the leading global experts in filament winding technology, having pioneered low-angle filament winding.
Over the last 10 years, Clive has diversified the business into niche industrial, aerospace, defence, automotive and mining applications.
Clive’s passion for innovation and composite technology continues as he pushes the technical boundaries of filament winding, pultrusion and software-aided design.
Chris started sailing at the age of 5 and has been sailing competitively ever since, representing NSW and Australia in local and international events, such as in world titles in dingy and skiff classes.
He attended the Maritime College in Launceston, Tasmania – studying Naval Architecture before deciding to enter the field of manufacturing.
Chris received his Bachelor of Business in Manufacturing Management from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Chris’ experience includes Planning and Production Management roles within PAX Australia, where he was responsible for 15 production lines, operating on a 24/7 basis.
Chris was able to see the opportunities that lie ahead for CST, so in 2001, he left his senior role at PAX, and bought into Clive’s vision while the company was still in it’s infancy.
Chris brings a strong combination of operations and engineering management experience to CST, and has been instrumental in building the business with Clive and creating the strong customer and quality focus that CST has today.
