CST Builds World’s Fastest Tubes!

By All News, Industrial News, Marine News

Speed sailing team Macquarie Innovations, has just smashed 50 knots with recorded average speed of 50.43kn during their record attempt at Sandy Point.

Macquarie also experienced a peak top speed of 100km/h, and after taking into account the tidal influence will be submitting an average speed of 50.08kn for rectification. The team will almost certainly claim the new class C record and are now within striking distance of outright world speed record of 50.57kn set by a kite.

CST Composites has supplied tubing used in construction of Macquarie Innovations and are proud to be associated with this historic achievement. The 50kn goal set by the team has been 15 years in the making and it’s great to see their hard work finally pay off.

Bora wins in Hawaii

By All News, Marine News

CST team sailor Bora Gulari has just won the McLube Harken International Moth Pacific Rim Championship in Hawaii.

Bora sailed a very consistent series winning 11 out of the 14 races with fellow CST team sailor Charlie McKee in 2nd. The fleet of 12 was challenged by windy conditions with boats often reaching speeds of 25kn on the downwind legs.

Both Bora and Charlie used CST’s 340 series high modulus masts and booms, which are yet again proving to be the dominant Moth spars.
