CST launches new range of High Modulus carbon filament wound skiff/dinghy spars

CST are re-writing the rules for carbon spars – Carbon 2.0 – the latest generation of carbon spars are here!  By using High Modulus carbon fibre CST’s new spar sections are smaller in diameter, lighter and stiffer (depending on class requirements).   Currently our new High Modulus range includes the 18′ skiff, Moth and International 14.  The next classes to be converted will be the Contender and Flying Dutchman with more to follow!  Further details to follow.

CST named as title Sponsor for the 2008 Moth World Championships

CST is delighted to announce that they are the title sponsor for the 2008 Moth World Championships being held at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy on 5th-11th July.  Mark Robinson IMCA World President said “We are delighted to be associated with CST. New 191mm Elliptical Mast Section

The first 191 x 101mm elliptical mast section was filament wound at the end of march 08 and will be assembled and rigged by Allyacht Spars ready to be fitted to a Spirited 380 catamaran.  The mast will be supplied in two sections measuring 7m and 9m respectively.  The new section is part of CST’s expanding elliptical mast series and can be seen on the Spirited 380 stand at the Sanctuary Cove Boat show May 22nd – 25th.  Picture.

CST Sponsors Australian Sailing Team

CST is pleased to announce that they will be exclusively supplying filament wound carbon fibre tiller extensions to all Australia’s selected sailors for the 2008 Olympics in Quindango, China.  CST’s extensions have been used by many Olympic sailors in the 49er class and are well renowned for their performance and durability.  With this latest agreement all of Australia’s hopeful’s will be holding a CST extension in their hand as they pursue Gold at the 2008 Olympic games.

CST Carbon Furling Boom for Super Yacht

Over the last couple of months CST has been developing their current filament winding machines and through this development, have successfully wound a carbon fibre furling boom for a new 58 metre super yacht .

The new furling boom which CST supplied is over 17metres long and has a diametre of 250mm, with this increased capacity CST can now cater for almost all you large tube needs.

Congratulations to Glenn Ashby for winning the 2007 A-Class World Championships. Glenn’s boat has the full CST carbon kit, inc beams, x-bar, boom and tiller extensions.

Glenn is part of the CST Composites Sponsored sailing team, and also supplies the Australian built Flyer Mark 2,  A-Class Catamaran, in conjunction with Gel-Tek Quality Composites. Each boat comes fitted with CST’s carbon fibre beams.

104th Flying Tiger Mast Shipped

CST has shipped over 100 masts for the FT10 Flying Tiger into China.

Contender Worlds – Holland July 2007

Glenn Ashby Wins 2007 A-Class European Titles

Congratulations to CST sponsored, Glenn Ashby who wrapped up the A-Class European Titles on the second last day of racing.

During the 6 days of racing, Ashby won 6 out of the 8 races he sailed, and wrapped up the European title with a full day to spare. He chose to sit the last day of racing out, instead opting to watch from a powerboat, sidelined.

10,000 Tubes

CST is celebrating the production of its 10,000th tube and would like to say a big thank you to all its customers.  Since 1995 CST has continued to grow from strength to strength and now employs over 15 people.  During the last 12 years CST has supplied over 1000 masts world wide and CST carbon spars now dominate open skiff classes both in Australia and internationally (see Geelong skiff regatta news article).  The company is now the sole supplier of spars to the Flying Tiger 10m being built in China.  CST is currently undergoing further expansion and expects to increase turnover by 20% in 2007.  For further information on our extensive product range and manufacturing capabilities contact [email protected]
