Nathan Outteridge Wins Moth Europeans

In July, CST supported sailor Andrea Bonezzi was crowned the “European Contender Champion”, using CST’s HM Club mast.  Two weeks later CST spars have won yet another regatta.

This time Australia’s Olympian and CST team member Nathan Outteridge, has beaten a strong fleet of 85 boats to become the 2010 European Moth Champion..

Sailed on Switzerland’s Lake Silvaplana, the championship was one of the closest on record. Nathan and fallow CST sailor Bora Gulari were the standouts from the rest of the fleet. Last time these two met, Bora was victorious taking the World Champion crown in USA. This year Nathan came back in a new boat sporting a prototype “Elite” series mast from CST, and experienced great speed improvement to win the championship by 2 points.

The next big event on the Moth calendar is the 2011 World Championship to be sailed from Belmont 16ft Sailing Club on Nathan’s home waters of Lake Macquarie. It should be a great contest between these two sailors, however past World Champions like John Harris could also cause an upset. The top 10 is likely to be made up of ex World and Olympic Champions.
